Good News, Bad News

the Good News:
I have new business cards!
I finally made up my mind on a design (I tell myself I won't change it again. But I bet I will.) My mom, sister, and brother all chose the same design—and then I chose the opposite. (just a note, I always include a business card with my shop orders. y'know. hint. ;) )

the Bad News:
My hometown is flooded.

Usually, someone asks me where I'm from; I tell them; they've never heard of it; then I tell them that my grandfather is the mayor. It's a fun little fact! He's a goofy, sweet guy. And he and everyone back home have a lot of work ahead of them (once the water finally recedes).
My grandpa, and my dad, and most of my uncles are volunteer firefighters, and I'm sure they've all been working much longer shifts than they should (I think my dad was awake for something like 36 hours straight). I hope they're remembering to rest.
My parents' house is on a hill, so it's dry, but it seems like most everything else is under water. Everyone at home probably feels totally helpless—and I definitely feel it, seeing all the photos from my messy—but dry—little house in Philadelphia.

  1. I've not only heard of Athens, I know where it is -- and I just drove past it on Rt. 220 last Sunday! I was visiting family in Waverly. It's hard to believe that the area is under so much water now! So sad.

  2. I know, it happens so fast!

My mom told me that most of the standing water is gone, but it's all stinky river sludge now (the sewage treatment plant is out-of-commission (ew)) and some of the houses are being condemned :(
